Men's Soccer Advances to Region III Finals with 2–0 Shutout Over Onondaga

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Finger Lakes men's soccer will return to the Region III Final for the second straight season behind a strong defensive performance and timely goals from Bautista Suarez (Salta, Argentina/Colegio Belgrano) and Daniel Ojedayo (Ibadan, Nigeria/Opicc).

The Lakers struck first in the 19th minute when Suarez buried a pass from Germán Guzzi (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Imei) to give Finger Lakes the early advantage. Despite several chances early in the match to extend the lead, the Lazers' defense held firm. Goalkeepers Joshua Koobs (Leverkusen, Germany/Werner Heisenberg Gymnasium) and Harry Eastwick (Christchurch, New Zealand/St. Thomas of Canterbury College) shared time in goal, combining for the Lakers' 12th shutout of the season.

Ojedayo sealed the result in the closing minute, finishing unassisted in the 89th to send Finger Lakes through with their 16th win of the year, a program record.

Looking Ahead:
Finger Lakes will face Genesee on Saturday, November 1st, in the Region III, District A Championship at Genesee Community College. The winner advances to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament hosted by Herkimer County Community College. The match will be streamed live here ($5.44) with live stats coverage as well.
