Under second-year head coach David Campbell, the Lakers will look to build upon a strong 2021 campaign. Campbell stated, "I am excited to get this season going, I expect great things of our incoming freshman if they come in and match the work ethic and determination of our returning players".

Campbell's team will feature an even mix of returners and newcomers, and he hopes to integrate that mix into a successful product on the pitch. Campbell has high expectations for his incoming Freshman, "we have three freshman coming that I expect to make an immediate impact", Campbell explained, "Ella Lewis is a calm composed player with natural instincts along with a powerful shot, Natalie Lecceardone is an explosive player that will surprise opponents, and then on the defensive side we have Adiah Northup, a savvy defender who will likely win the ball in one-on-one opportunities".

Campbell noted his expectations for his returners, "Allie Bowe is a powerful and dynamic striker who earned First Team All-Region honors last season, joined with Halee Passarell in the midfield, and Jenna Tenney on the defensive end, both of which were Second Team All-Region student-athletes", Campbell further noted, "Grace Hall and Morgan Collazo are both intelligent offensive weapons, combined with the clever defending of Tori Armstrong, and our other three returners, we will always have an opportunity to win against the most talented opponents".
