Lakers Fall on the Road at Wisconsin-Stevens Point
STEVENS POINT, WI. – The Finger Lakes Community College men's volleyball team continued their Midwest road trip Tuesday night but came up short in a 3-0 loss to Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Lakers were unable to find a consistent rhythm offensively, finishing with a .117 hitting percentage as a team.
Evan Lukasiewicz (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) led the attack with 9 kills, while Jake Seklar (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) and Braden Whitcomb (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) each contributed 2 kills on efficient hitting performances. Bryce Nickson (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) added 4 kills and a team-high 12 digs, while setter Cole Thomas (Fayettville, N.Y./Chittnenango) finished with 19 assists, 2 aces, and 2 blocks. Aaron Hennessy (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) and Jack Donovan (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) each chipped in 2 kills, with Hennessy also recording 2 blocks.
Despite strong defensive efforts, the Lakers struggled with unforced errors, committing 14 service errors and 10 receiving errors in the match.
FLCC will look to snap their four-match skid as they return home for the FLCC Invite this Saturday and Sunday, February 22nd and 23rd.
