QUEENSBURY, N.Y. - The Lakers rebounded from a midweek 1–1 draw with Jamestown to deliver a commanding 8–0 performance in their regular season finale, securing the #1 seed in both the Region III Tournament and the Mid-State Athletic Conference with a record of 15–1–1 (6–0).
It was a milestone day for Robin Giesing (Essen, Germany/Gymnasium-Essen-Werden), who recorded a hat trick and became FLCC's all-time leader in career points with 114, surpassing Athletics Hall of Famer Eric Marsh (109, 1996–97).
Daniel Ojedayo (Ibadan, Nigeria/Opicc) set the tone with the opener in the 35th minute and turned in a standout line with one goal and three assists. Lennart Schaefer (Dortmund, Germany/Max-Planck-Gymnasium) chipped in one goal and two assists, Sam Gerrards (Manchester, England/Wellington School) scored twice in the second half, and Germán Guzzi (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Imei) added the final tally. Assists also came from Riley Cooper (Aberdeen, Scotland/Dyce Academy) and Giesing.
With the win, Finger Lakes concluded the regular season 15–1–1, unbeaten in conference play, and riding a 12-match unbeaten streak heading into postseason play.
