CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team put together a strong rebounding performance and a more physical second half, but Onondaga Community College maintained control throughout Wednesday night's matchup as the Lakers fell 71–60 at home.
The Lakers struggled to convert early looks, falling behind 34–25 at halftime. The Lakers cut the margin to single digits multiple times in the second half, but Onondaga responded with timely shots to hold off each push.
George Spinelli (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) led the Lakers with 14 points and 4 rebounds. Joe Caito (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) added 10 points and 7 boards, while Kyle Brooks (Miami, FL./Palm Bay) provided an interior spark off the bench with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
Ryan Clark (Orlando, FL./South Lake) added 7 points, and Mekai Daniels (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) chipped in 5 points and 4 rebounds.
Despite shooting just 32.3% from the field, Finger Lakes dominated the offensive glass with 21 boards and outrebounded the Lazers 50–36, but couldn't convert enough second-chance opportunities to swing momentum.
Looking Ahead:
The Lakers (1-4) travel to Roberts Wesleyan University next Tuesday, November 25th, at 7 PM.
