Cross Country Set to Host Region III Championship on the Bruce Bridgman Course
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Championship season is underway for the Lakers, who prepare to host the 2025 NJCAA Region III Cross Country Championship on Saturday, October 25th. The women's 5K is set to begin at 11 AM, followed by the men's 8K at 11:45 AM on the Bruce Bridgman Course.
The meet will feature Region III's top programs competing for team and individual titles, as well as qualification for the NJCAA Division III National Championship on Sunday, November 9th at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Going into Saturday, nationally ranked #7 Hudson Valley and #9 Monroe highlight the men's squads, while #6 Hudson Valley and #10 SUNY Erie highlight the women's squads.
On the men's side for the Lakers, Griffin Miller (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy) and William Andrew (Newark, N.Y./East Palmyra Christian) enter the weekend following All-Conference performances at the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championship, while freshman Kyan Powers (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse Academy) continues to build on his rookie campaign.
For the women, Kayla Dunstan (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne) and Alana Bedell (Newark, N.Y./Newark) look to lead the way after top-5 finishes at the MSAC Championship, while Megan McGregor (Marion, N.Y./Marion) rounds out the lineup.
