Lakers Top Onondaga 3–1 in Home Opener

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - Finger Lakes Community College women's volleyball opened its 2025 home schedule with a 3–1 win over Onondaga Community College on Tuesday night (25-12, 23-25, 25-5, 25-21). The victory pushed the Lakers to 3–2 overall and 1–0 in Mid-State Athletic Conference play while extending their winning streak over the Lazers to 15 straight matches.

The Lakers dominated the opening set, hitting .324 as a team and cruising to a 25-12 win. Onondaga evened the match in the second, capitalizing on late miscues from Finger Lakes to take it 25-23. The Lakers responded emphatically, rolling through the third set 25-5 before closing out the match in the fourth.

Anna Kurtzhalts (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) led all attackers with 16 kills on 36 swings to go with 2 blocks. Jackie Neureuter (Pembroke, N.Y./Pembroke) was steady on both sides of the ball, finishing with 8 kills, 7 aces, and 5 digs for a match-high 15.5 points. Allyson St. Germain (Cincinnatus, N.Y./Cincinnatus) added 9 kills on a .348 hitting percentage, and Kayce Hennekey (Rochester, N.Y./West Irondequoit) contributed 7 kills at .429 efficiency.

Setter Olivia Scheuer (Constantia, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) directed the offense with 35 assists, while Aubrie Tomlinson (Buffalo, N.Y./Frontier) anchored the back row with a team-best 16 digs.

Looking Ahead:
Finger Lakes travels to the Mid-Hudson Valley on Saturday, August 30th, for a tri-match at Dutchess Community College, where the Lakers will take on Monroe College-Bronx and the host Falcons.
