FLCC Welcomes Giovanni Cambareri as New Head Women’s Soccer Coach
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Athletics Department is excited to introduce Giovanni Cambareri as the new head coach for the Lakers women's soccer program.
Cambareri brings extensive coaching experience at the college, semi-professional, and youth club levels. His coaching career has spanned multiple states and included roles with Niagara County Community College, Wells College, USL2's AHFC Royals, and UPSL Premier Division teams.
"I thought that accepting the position of Head Women's Soccer Coach at Finger Lakes Community College was a great opportunity to bring a different mindset and start a new cycle," Cambareri said.
Known for his player-centric, results-oriented coaching style, Cambareri emphasizes tactical discipline, strong team management, and building a winning mentality.
"For the first season, we will work hard on laying down a stronger foundation and improving team culture, more oriented to strive for success and professionalism," he said. "We'll focus on retaining and recruiting players that will help have a positive impact on our program. It's also important to enhance local and international talent, foster community connections, and promote player involvement in community programs."
FLCC Director of Athletics Dr. Samantha Boccacino highlighted Cambareri's unique strengths: "We're excited to welcome Giovanni to the FLCC athletics family. His vision, energy, and diverse coaching background make him a great fit for our women's soccer program. Gio brings a thoughtful and intentional approach centered on student-athlete development. I look forward to seeing how he helps our program continue to grow."
In addition to his coaching experience, Cambareri brings expertise in scouting, performance analysis, and personal training. He plans to incorporate high-intensity training methods to enhance both individual player development and overall team performance.
"My approach is practical with a strong emphasis on defense and tactical flexibility," Cambareri added. "I'm here to build a team culture where players understand expectations, communicate effectively, and work toward both athletic and academic success."
FLCC women's soccer is set to open a new chapter under Cambareri's leadership this fall season and return to its roots as a historically dominant program in Region III. The Lakers will kick their season off at home on Saturday, September 3rd at 5 PM against conference opponent Corning Community College.
