Lakers Open Season Strong at Paul Smith’s Fall Competition

PAUL SMITHS, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Logging Sports team rolled into the 2025-26 season with a strong showing at the Paul Smith's Fall Competition on October 4th in the heart of the Adirondacks. Facing off against nine colleges from across the Northeast, the Lakers turned in solid mid-pack finishes in both the Men's and Jack & Jill divisions. At the same time, a young Open Division team gained valuable experience with a promising performance of its own.

Highlighting the day were several standout individual and team results, including Riley Tierney earning first place in the Men's Axe Throw, Ethan Rutan taking first in the Men's Obstacle Pole, and Thomas Spencer winning the Open Disc Stack. The Lakers' Jack & Jill squad also took home top honors in the Bow Saw Relay.

Looking Ahead:

FLCC Logging Sports will look to carry that momentum into their next competition at SUNY ESF in Tully, N.Y., on October 25th.
