Anna Kurtzhalts Named Region III Player of the Year as Lakers Earn Multiple Honors

Canandaigua, N.Y. -  After a historic sophomore season, Anna Kurtzhalts has been named the Region III Player of the Year. 

Anna Kurtzhalts (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) was the leader of the Lakers offense all season long, putting together one of the most impressive seasons in program history. The sophomore center fielder finished the year hitting an incredible .463 while recording 38 hits, 27 RBI, 17 stolen bases, and an outstanding .866 slugging percentage. She also added seven doubles, seven triples, and four home runs, showcasing her ability to impact the game in every way possible.

During her time at FLCC, Anna also etched her name into the record books, becoming the program's all-time leader in career batting average (.470), doubles (18), walks (32), and stolen bases (39). Her combination of speed, power, plate discipline, and consistency made her one of the most dynamic players in Region III.

In addition to being named Region III Player of the Year, Kurtzhalts also earned All-Conference honors for her outstanding sophomore campaign.

Sophomore Emma Johnson (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) also earned All-Conference honors after another stellar season for the Lakers. Johnson hit .432 on the year with 32 hits, 18 RBI, five doubles, and two triples while serving as one of the team's most reliable and consistent players throughout the season. Whether behind the plate or in the infield, Emma's leadership, defensive versatility, and ability to come through in key moments played a major role in the Lakers' success this year.

Together, Kurtzhalts and Johnson helped lead the Lakers to another successful season while establishing themselves as two of the top players in Region III softball.
