No. 2 Lakers Roll to 2-0 Weekend Sweep

Boston, MA - The Lakers traveled east for a Saturday tri-match against Roxbury Community College and Passaic County Community College. Finger Lakes took care of business, sweeping both contests in straight sets.

Game 1 Vs Roxbury CC

The Lakers came out hot in the opening match, surrendering just 32 total points across three sets. Offensively, the Lakers were led by  Cole Thomas (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Chittenango), who dished out 17 assists and added a team-high seven service aces. Hitting was an all-around team effort, as 10 different Lakers recorded at least two kills.  Ethan Bond (Phelps, N.Y. / Midlakes) led the team in kills, finishing with five on eight attempts. On the defensive side,  Jackson Blaszow (Chittenango) was stout, racking up six digs while also contributing four service aces.

Game 2 Vs Passaic CC

The Lakers had an explosive outing, hitting .349 as a team on their way to a straight-set sweep over Passaic CC. The Lakers were lead on offense by Ethan Bond (Phelps, N.Y. / Midlakes), who finished with 11 kills on 22 swings while hitting .318, to go along with three digs and three blocks.  Zach Sipos (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) would contribute 10 kills while hitting an impressive .429.  Cole Thomas (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Chittenango) dished out 31 assists and collected five digs, while Dominick Alverado (York, Pa. / Northeastern) rounded out the offensive attack with eight kills.

The Lakers return home Saturday, February 21st, as they take on Harcum College.
