Lakers Esports Building Momentum in the Fall 2025 Season

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Things are heating up in the Fall 2025 Esports season at Finger Lakes Community College, as the Lakers continue to stack wins across multiple game titles.

Zachary Lewis made his Super Smash Bros. Ultimate debut in style, securing his first collegiate win against Monroe Community College.

The Marvel Rivals Blue team also notched its first victory of the season with a strong performance against Lorain.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Lakers are blazing through the league standings behind newcomers Ethan Carson and Quinn Schultz, along with returning champion Joseph Yates, who continue to dominate the racetracks week after week.

Meanwhile, the Lakers' Hearthstone and Apex Legends squads each brought home three wins apiece. Asa McKaig and Luis Aviles Rodriguez have been standouts for their respective teams.

Outside of competition, members of the Esports program once again volunteered at Sarah's Country Barn Fall Festival this past weekend, helping vendors, entertaining guests, and representing the college throughout the day.

The Lakers will return to action this Friday with a scrimmage in Deadlock, the breakout first-person shooter currently taking the gaming scene by storm. Fans can catch the match live on the FLCC Esports Twitch Channel at 7 PM EST.
