Bio

His Plaque Reads: While attending high school at Greece Athena, Jeff Murphy was a member of both the baseball and basketball teams. He entered FLCC in 1992 as a physical education major and continued to participate in baseball as a freshman, then played both basketball and baseball as a sophomore. During his second year at FLCC, he was named baseball team captain and he directed his energy exclusively to playing second base. During this 1994 season, Jeff earned Second Team All-Region honors, and led his team to the NJCAA World Series where they finished seventh in the nation. Jeff transferred to SUNY Cortland where he continued playing baseball while earning a bachelor's degree in physical education. During his senior year in 1997 at Cortland, Jeff was named to the All-Tournament Team in the 1997 Division III Regional Tournament. That 1997 team went on to the Division III College World Series in Salem, Virginia where they finished third in the nation.

Jeff completed his education by earning a master's degree from SUNY Brockport in teaching pedagogy. He was a substitute teacher and completed two different long-term substitute assignments in P.E. and special education during the three years before he received his master's degree. During this time, he began coaching both the Greece Arcadia JV baseball team and freshman boys basketball team. In 2000, the Hilton Central School District offered him a position as a seventh and eight grade physical education teacher. Today he continues in this role, coaches 8th grade boy basketball, and spring 2009 marks his fourth season as the Varsity baseball coach. In his three prior seasons as coach, his teams achieved a 57-16-1 overall record, earned two division titles, and one sectional championship. In spring 2008, the Hilton Varsity Baseball Team made an appearance in the Final Four at the New York State Tournament in Binghamton, NY.

Jeff, who has been named Coach of the Year in Monroe County Division II twice during his short coaching career, attributes much of his style and accomplishments to both his FLCC Baseball Coach Bob Lowden and SUNY Cortland Coach Steve Owens.

The first inductee into the CCFL/FLCC Athletic Hall of Fame occurred in 1991. Induction recognizes alumni who were athletes as students and whose lives since graduation serve as role models for current student athletes. The College and Department of Athletics are thrilled to honor Jeffrey C. Murhpy '94 with induction into the FLCC Athletic Hall of Fame.
