Brehm Earns NJCAA Division III Second Team All-America Honors
Canandaigua, N.Y. - After a historic sophomore season, Finger Lakes Community College's Markus Brehm earned one of the highest honors in junior college baseball, being named to the NJCAA Division III Second Team All-America Team. Brehm becomes the first FLCC baseball player to receive All-American recognition since Tanner Cooper earned the distinction in 2019.
Brehm put together one of the most dominant offensive seasons in program history, leading the Lakers both at the plate and on the basepaths. The sophomore infielder/outfielder finished the season batting .480, collecting 60 hits, 63 runs scored, 15 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs, 42 RBI, and 30 stolen bases while posting an impressive .586 on-base percentage and .888 slugging percentage.
His remarkable season also rewrote the FLCC record book, as he set new single-season program records for batting average, stolen bases, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. Brehm's consistency and ability to impact the game in every facet helped power the Lakers to a successful season under first-year Head Coach JT Angora.
In addition to his All-America selection, Brehm was named the Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned All-Region First Team honors, further cementing his place among the best players in the nation at the Division III level.
Brehm's All-America recognition caps off one of the finest individual seasons in Finger Lakes baseball history and serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication he displayed throughout his career in a Lakers uniform.
