Lakers Split Series at SUNY Adirondack

QUEENSBURY, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Volleyball team traveled to SUNY Adirondack on Sunday, Oct. 10th, splitting their series on the day. The Lakers picked up a win over host SUNY Adirondack 3-2 in the 5 set match, 25-16, 25-8, 23-25, 22-25 and 15-9.

For the match, the Lakers were led by Sophomore Brandy Morrison (Macedon, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) who added 18 kills, 15 digs and 2 block solos. Freshman Emma Sipos (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) came up big for the Lakers, finishing with 13 kills, 18 digs and 1 ace for the match.

Freshman Jenna Wallace (Baldwinsville, N.Y./ Baldwinsville) helped set up her teammates, adding 14 digs and 41 assists in 5 sets while teammate Oona O'Brien (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) 15 kills and 15 digs.

Emer O'Brien (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) continued her consistent play, contributing 13 kills while Kayla Fetcie (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) had a day, adding 5 kills, 5 digs, 4 aces and 3 block assists. 

The Lakers followed up their match with SUNY Adirondack with a match against Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The Lakers fell to the Raiders of Fulton-Montgomery CC 3 sets none, 15-25, 10-25 and 22-25. The Raiders are currently undefeated on the year and boast one of the best squads in Region III.

Freshman Oona O'Brien led the Lakers with 8 kills and 7 digs while teammate Emma Sipos contributed 2 kills, 7 digs and 1 ace in the match. Sophomore Brandy Morrison continued her stellar play with 4 kills, 5 digs and 1 ace in the match.

Freshman Jenna Wallace was an integral part of the Lakers offense adding in 1 kill, 2 digs, 15 assists and 1 ace. 

The Lakers ahead after splitting their series at SUNY Adirondack, the team travel to Erie Community College on Thursday, Oct. 14th for a 7 P.M. Following their away match, the Lakers return home for 4-straight matches to round out their regular season.
