Hunter Brignall Named 2020 NJCAA Division III Northeast Region Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Sophomore Hunter Brignall, has been named the 2020 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Northeast Region Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year.

 Brignall has been a phenomenal runner in his two years at Finger Lakes Community College. In his freshman season, Hunter was the top runner on the team earning Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) Runner of the Year, and a spot on the NJCAA Region III All-Region team. He was also an Honorable Mention All-American.

In his sophomore season, Brignall showed improvement from his impressive first season as a Laker. Throughout the big change in race format, due to COVID-19, Brignall competed at a high level. He placed first in all but one of the meets he ran in. Brignall earned MSAC Runner of the Year, as well as NJCAA Region III Runner of the Year. He finished first in both the MSAC and Region III Championships.

His impressive season was noticed by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) week by week. He earned two USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors.
