Volleyball Goes 2-1 At MCC POD

HENRIETTA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women’s Volleyball went 2-1 in the Monroe Community College, Region III POD on Saturday. There, they played Tompkins Cortland Community College, SUNY Broome Community College, and Corning Community College.

Tompkins Cortland Game

The Lakers beat Tompkins Cortland in 3 sets. The first set ended 25-10. The Lakers had 7 kills, 3 errors, and 18 total attack attempts. The second set ended 25-14. The Lakers had 8 kills, 6 errors, and 24 total attack attempts. The third, and final set ended 25-13. The Lakers had 5 kills, one error, and 19 total attack attempts.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Shaniah Jones with 5 kills, Lindsay Howell with 6 service aces, Megan Gass with 12 digs, and Howell with 3 blocks.

SUNY Broome Game

The Lakers fell to Broome in 3 sets. In the first set, they lost 25-21. They had 8 kills, 4 errors and 31 total attack attempts. In the second set, they lost 25-16. They had 8 kills, 6 errors, and 28 total attack attempts. In the third and final set, they lost 25-19. They had 9 kills, 7 errors, and 32 total attack attempts.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Alyssa Fox and Lindsay Howell with 10 kills, Shannon Mowry with 3 service aces, Megan Gass with 11 digs, and Howell with 3 blocks.

Corning Game

The Lakers played a long one against Corning Community College. They ended up winning 3-2. In the first set, they lost 25-20. They had 10 kills, 8 errors, and 27 total attack attempts. In the second set, they won 25-20. They had 12 kills, 4 errors, and 37 total attack attempts. In the third set, they won again, this time 25-11. They had 9 kills, 4 errors, and 24 total attack attempts. In the fourth set, Corning came back and won 25-23. The Lakers had 10 kills, 8 errors, and 31 total attack attempts. In the final set, the Lakers earned the win, 15-6. They had 9 kills, only one error, and 18 total attack attempts.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Alyssa Fox with 16 kills, Shannon Mowry with 3 service aces, Megan Gass with 37 digs, and Lindsay Howell with 4 blocks.

The Lakers will play their final game of the regular season on Wednesday, October 18th. They will travel back to Monroe Community College and play at 6:00pm.
