The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Volleyball team ended their regular season play with a loss against No. 8 ranked Monroe Community College Wednesday night. The Tribunes won the match in 4 sets by scores of 25-13, 21-25, 25-13 and 25-16. The Lakers will end the regular season at 19-15.
The Lakers attacking force was led by McKenna Guarasce who had 11 kills on 31 attempts in the match. Celyna Levesque had 8 kills in 29 attempts. Aubrey Davis and Brianne Avery contributed to the Lakers offense with 14 and 10 assists respectively. Katee Martinez would lead the Lakers defense against the Tribunes with 20 digs. Danielle Cox and Audra Beechler would also record 14 and 12 digs respectively for the defense.
The Lakers played hard but were able to win just one match against the nationally ranked Tribunes. However, this will not mark the end for the Lakers season as they have been invited to the NJCAA Region III Volleyball Championship which will take place on October 31st and November 1st. It will be hosted by Niagara County Community College and is set to begin at 10am. The Lakers are coming into the tournament as the 8th seed. They will face Monroe CC in their first match, followed by Jamestown CC and Corning CC. Best of Luck Lakers!
