The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Volleyball team won two of there three matches at the Genesee POD this Saturday. They faced Niagara Community College, Erie Community College and Jamestown Community college. The Lakers are now 11-8 on the season.
The first match for the Lakers was against Niagara Community college. Finger Lakes took the match in five sets by scores of 17-25, 25-15, 25-21, 21-25 and 15-4. Finger Lakes defense allowed them to take the match from Niagara recording 48 total digs and 7 solo blocks. Katee Martinez led the defense with 15 digs. Brianne Avary and Danielle Cox would add 11 more digs each for the Lakers. Celyna Levesque and Danielle Cox had 7 and 6 kills respectively. Avary had 14 assists for the Lakers.
The second match was against Erie Community College. The Lakers took the match in 3 sets by scores of 26-25, 25-20 and 25-23. Finger Lakes had a strong attacking force against Erie. Celyna Levesque, Audra Beechler and McKenna Guarasce had 7 kills each for the Lakers. Katee Martinez led the defence with 15 digs. Brianne Avary had 14 assists.
The final match of the day was against Jamestown Community College. Jamestown would take the match in four stes by scores of 22-25, 14-25, 27-25 and 10-25. The Lakers had another strong defensive game recording 60 digs. Katte Martinez and Danielle led the defense with 15 and 13 digs respectively. Celyna Levesque would lead the Laker attack again with 10 kills. McKenna Guarasce had 7 kills. Brianne Avary and Aubrey Davis led in assists with 14 and 10.
The Lakers battled hard this weekend and have improved their record to 11-8. They will return to action tomorrow night as they host the Hornets from Broome Community College. The match is set for 6pm. Go Lakers!
