Lakers Fall on Day 1 of Regional Tournament

The Finger Lakes women's volleyball team had an overall set record of 1-8 during the Regional Tournament pool play round and did not advance to the semi-final round. Despite their record, the Lakers were competitive in all of the sets that they played. They dropped 3 sets to Adirondack Community College (21-25, 23-25, 18-25) and Fulton-Montgomery Community College (20-25, 17-25, 15-25). Their only win came against Jefferson Community College during the second set of the match (17-25, 25-19, 20-25).

During the match against Adirdonack Community College, Ryenn Smith led attackers with 10 kills. Jessica Carder and Ali Drier each chipped in 6 kills a piece and Aubrey Davis recorded 16 assists. Mary Beth Schram led defenders with 8 digs.

During the match against Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Smith and Drier led the Lakers with 14 and 8 kills respectively. Davis contributed 26 assists and Schram contributed 8 digs.

During the match against Jefferson Community College Ryenn Smith recorded 12 kills and Aubrey Davis chipped in 6 kills and 25 assists. Ali Drier and Jessica Carder each recorded 7 kills a piece.

"Even though today's outcome was not what we wanted, I am extremely proud of this team and the season that we had", said head coach Matt Barr.

The Lakers finished their season at 21-19 overall, 5-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and 11-6 in Region III.
