The Finger Lakes Community College women's volleyball team beat Broome Community College in straight sets to bring them to 4-1 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. The Hornets were ahead in both the first and second sets, but the Lakers relied on their offense to overcome the deficits to win by scores of 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.
The Lakers had 6 players contribute offensively with Ryenn Smith leading all attackers with 21 kills. Smith's hitting percentage on the night was .370. Ali Drier and Jessica Carder recorded 7 and 6 kills respectively. Caitlin Lewis chipped in 2 kills and Aubrey Davis recorded 31 assists. Mary Beth Schram led all defenders with 13 digs. Drier and Smith also contributed 8 digs a piece.
The win brings the Lakers overall record to 11-11 and their regional record to 6-5. They travel this Saturday, 10/4 to Monroe Community College for Regional POD play. The POD is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. The Lakers will face off against Herkimer County Community College, Fulton-Montgomery Community College, and Mohawk Valley Community College.
