CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women’s Soccer team shut out the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers on Saturday. The Lakers won 3-0. This has put them in a 2 game win streak.
The two teams came into Saturday’s game on a 7-4 record. In the first half it was obvious the two teams were so similar in records. The first half was very evenly played on both sides of the field. A little over halfway through the first half, Laker’s leading scorer, Colby Kutzer went down after a collision with the Panther’s goal keeper. This put her out for the rest of the game. It was a loss for the Lakers. Both defenses played strong and did not allow any goals in the first half.
The second half is where all of the scoring happened. The first goal of the game was scored by the Lakers. Jessica Williams dribbled the ball up the left side of the field where she saw an open Hollee Graham. Graham received the pass and kicked it just past the goalie. This was Graham’s first career goal as a Laker. The second goal was scored from a pass up the middle from Williams again. She found Allison Page who scored. Finally, the third, and last goal of the game was scored again by Graham. She was unassisted.
Game leaders for the Lakers were Graham with 2 goals, Williams with 2 assists, and goal keeper Isabella Prest with 8 saves.
The Lakers will play next at home for their Sophomore Game. They will play Genesee Community College on Wednesday, October 11th. Kick off will start at 4:00pm after the men’s game.
