Women's Soccer Wins First Home Game in Regulation Time

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women’s Soccer team came out victorious against the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks this past Wednesday, 2-0. This is the Lakers first regulation time win at home.

It was an exciting game for the Lakers. It was a close match in the first half for both teams. The Lakers out-shot the Hawks 11-6 in the first half. Hawk's goal keeper, Drianna Crofoot held the Hawks in the first half with 5 saves.

The second half of the game was even more exciting. FLCC’s Colby Kutzer dribbled the ball up the field and passed a little far in front of Jessica Williams. It became a race to the ball between Williams and Crofoot. Williams won the ball and dribbled it to the open goal, shot and scored. Later on in the half, Hawk's Victoria Wyman, had a breakaway and went in for the shot against FLCC goal keeper, Isabella Prest. Prest came out of the goal and approached Wyman, and denied her shot. The final goal of the game happened on a pass from Stephany McBride to Kutzer who scored the goal.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Kutzer with one goal and one assist, Williams with one goal, McBride with one assist, and keeper Isabella Prest with 11 saves.

The Lakers travel next to Onondaga Community College, Saturday, September 16th. Kick off will begin at 1:00pm.
