Canandaigua, NY -- The second seeded women's soccer team claimed victory in the semifinal round of the NJCAA Region III tournament over the seventh seeded Vikings from Hudson Valley CC on Wednesday, October 25. The Lakers took the match by a score of 1-0.
The Lakers tallied 15 total shots in the first half of play, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Finally, in the second half, Lindsey Lovett scored the lone goal for the Lakers off a rebound in the 67th minute. The Lakers were able to clinch victory with solid defensive play that allowed only five total shots. Abigail Miller played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lakers, recording three saves and her seventh shutout of the season.
The Lakers will travel to Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday, October 29 to face the Kats from Erie Community College for the NJCAA Region III Championship. The Lakers defeated the Kats earlier in the season in a close 2-1 match. The winner of Saturday's championship match will move on to the National tournament hosted by Ocean County CC.
