The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Soccer team defeated Conference opponent Jefferson Community College yesterday by a score of 5-2. With this win the Lakers have extended their win streak to 6 in a row.
The Lakers started the game off strong scoring two goals in the first 12 minutes of play. The goals were scored by Abigail Keenan and Hayley Alden, both were unassisted. The Lakers would continue to press Jefferson's defense but were unable to find the net for the remainder of the first half.
The Lakers would continue their offensive pressure and it would finally pay off. 55 minutes in, Abigail Keenan scored her second goal of the afternoon as she was assisted by Kaitlyn Huyler. In the same minute of play Abigail Keenan would score her third goal of the game! She was assisted by Ali Henby. The score would be 3-0, Lakers on top.
Jefferson would finally get on the board in the 58th minute of play, closing the deficit to 3-1. The Lakers answered back with another goal, this time from leading goal scorer Kaitlyn Huyler who already had an assist in the game. Jefferson would continue to battle scoring a second goal in the 82nd minute, however they were unable to come back against the Lakers.
The final score of last nights contest would be 5-2 in favor of the Lakers. The Lakers will stay at home this weekend as they host Corning Community College. The game is set for Saturday, 10/3 at 1pm.
