CANANDAIGUA – Facing a hard working team in SUNY Delhi this afternoon at home, the Lady Lakers were dealt a great test in the Lady Broncos. Finger Lakes, with the widely respected visitors entering their territory, answered Delhi's talent pool by finding the net seven times in the contest. Despite a solidly aggressive and quick Lady Broncos roster, Finger Lakes (11-0-1, 3-0 MSAC) took the victory – 7-1 – behind a hat trick of goals by sophomore Hannah Dalle.
Dalle's 3 goals also came with an assist in the win. On the season, she has now found the back of the net 13 different times.
Carmona scored 2 goals and assisted on three others for FLCC. With her solid offensive day, Carmona now sits atop of the nation as the leader for goals (22), assists (20), and points (64).
The other two Lady Laker goals were had (one each) by Dominique Berrafato and Rebecca Giacapuzzi. In addition to their goals, Berrafato and Giacapuzzi supplied one assist and 2 assists respectively -- in the game.
Paige Smith tacked on an assist to round out the scoring for FLCC.
In the 90-minute meeting, Finger Lakes built a 3-nil lead upon the conclusion of half number one. They went on to notch four more scores post intermission. The Lady Broncos, despite falling, played until the sound of the horn upon the concluding second of half number two. Delhi's lone goal came late in the contest. The Lady Broncos work ethic combined with their tenacity, validated how great of an opponent they truly were.
Overall, the Lady Lakers outshot Delhi – 21-6 – on the partly cloudy day in Canandaigua. Scooping up and putting a halt to 5 of those 6 Lady Bronco shots was FLCC's keeper Kristy Kirkpatrick.
With the loss, Delhi now sits at 4-3-1 in 2012. They will play next on Mon, Oct. 4 against #8 nationally ranked Herkimer County CC.
The Lady Lakers will be back in action tomorrow for their third consecutive home game. They will take on North Country CC at 1:00 p.m.
