3rd Annual FLCC Logging Sports Competition
Finger Lakes Community College will host the 3rd Annual FLCC Logging Sports Competition on the main campus of FLCC in Canandaigua, NY on Saturday, October 4, 2014. This competition will bring together the best collegiate woodsmen teams in the New York state. The event is scheduled to start at 8am.
Participating schools will be split into teams of 6 students, representing three divisions: Men's teams, Women's teams, and a mixed Jack and Jill team. The teams will then compete in team events, singles events and doubles events to accumulate the most number of points. Last year, Finger Lakes swept all three divisions.
The day will open with Team Canoe Relays. That will be followed by singles competitions in axe throw, chain saw, triathlon, pole climbing, single bucking, and birling. Doubles events will open in the late morning with fire build, cross cut, and horizontal chop. Pulp throwing and log decking will be a part of a team round robin competition at noon and the full team events will follow in the afternoon. They include buck sawing, crosscut saw, and the pack board relay.
The Finger Lakes Community College Woodsmen team is one of the most successful programs in the nation for both two and four year schools. The day long event is open to the public and students are encouraged to come and support the Lakers.
