Women's Basketball Ends Season In Region III Semi's

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team's season was ended on Saturday in the 2018 NJCAA Region III Semi-finals against the Onondaga Community College Lazers. The Lakers lost 80-73.

The Lakers ended the first quarter up 18-15. The Lazers had a game plan of shutting down Ranaveya Richards and Sarah Lacey, so Alivia Ginther stepped up and scored 9 of their 18 points.

The Lakers were still up at the end of the half, but only by one. Richards started scoring more, helping out the offense. Once the third quarter came, the Lazers started becoming more aggressive. They ended the third quarter in the lead. The Lakers fought to come back on top, but their season came to an end.

The Lazers shot better in the field with a 41.4%, while the Lakers shot 37.1%. The Lakers were behind in three pointers as well with a 23.8%.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Richards with 27 points, three assists, Lacey with 22 points, 17 rebounds, and Ginther with a season high of 22 points.

This wrapped up the Laker's season. They will be sending off Richards and Megan McAllister as they are sophomores. The Lakers will look to have just as an impressive season next year.
