Women's Basketball Moves Onto The MSAC Championship

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team hosted the 2018 Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) Tournament on Friday and Saturday. They played the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers in the Semi-finals on Friday night. The Lakers won 72-51.

The first quarter was dominated by the Lakers. They put up 26 points, while the Cannoneers only put up 10. The Lakers kept steady in the lead, always scoring points in the double digits throughout the game. The Cannoneers scored one point more than the Lakers in the second quarter, and the third. The Lakers came back in the fourth and scored 21 points to solidify their win.

The Lakers shot 44.1% in the field while the Cannoneers only shot 24.2%. The Lakers only shot slightly better the Cannoneers in three pointers with a 21.4%.

At the end of the game, the All-MSAC team was announced. Laker's own, Ranaveya Richards, and Sarah Lacey were named team members. The MSAC Player of the Year was Richards, and the MSAC Coach of the Year was Laker's Coach, Kelly Broderick.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Lacey with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists, and Richards with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

This moved the Lakers onto the MSAC Tournament Championship, where they faced the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers.
