Women's Basketball Finishes Out Regular Season

DRYDEN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team finished out their regular season with a win against the Tompkins Cortland Community College Panthers on Tuesday. The Lakers won 64-60.

It was a low scoring start for both teams. The first quarter ended with the Panthers in the lead only 10-8. The Lakers picked up their game in the second quarter and ended it scoring 24 more points. They grabbed the lead at the end of the half. They had the lead in the third quarter until Tatiana Minnick made a three pointer with just under 4 minutes left. The Lakers tried to catch up, but could only make it to just a point behind at the end of the third. Megan McAllister made a jumper early in the final quarter of the game and kept the lead till the end.

The Lakers shot better than the Panthers in the field. They shot 32.1% while the Panthers shot 28%. The Panthers shot better in three pointers with a 23.1% and the Lakers shot 20.8%.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Ranaveya Richards with 24 points, 7 assists, and Sarah Lacey with 14 points, and 20 rebounds.

The Lakers finished out their regular season, but will be hosting the Mid-State Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday, February 23rd and Saturday, February 24th. They will play the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers on Friday, at 5:30pm in the first round of the tournament. If they win, they will move on to the championship, where they will either play the Panthers, or the Onondaga Community College Lazers at 12:00pm.
