Lady Lakers Overpower Cougars 72-63

Canandaigua, NY -- The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team defeated the Cougars from Genesee Community College on Tuesday, November 29 by a final score of 72-63. The Lakers were able to hold on to their slim lead long enough to extend their record to 5-3 on the season.  

The Lady Lakers began the contest strong, oustscoring the Cougars 23-16 in the first quarter after going on a 9-0 run.  Genesee's defense began showing promise in the second quarter, holding the Lakers to just 10 points.  The Lakers would go into the half ahead 33-32.  Finger Lakes proceeded to outscore the Cougars in both of to following quarters to clinch victory.  

Krystal Hunter led the Lakers scoring with 19 points.  Megan Howell finished the contest with 15 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.  Nya Clark has 13 points and seven rebounds for the Lakers.  Reynaveya Richard came in from the bench to get 10 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Janae Brannon led the Lakers with 13 rebounds and eight assists.  

The Lakers will remain at home this weekend when they host Hudson Valley Community Colege and SUNY Adirondack Community College in a pair of regional match-ups.
