Lakers Fall at FMCC

JOHNSTOWN, NY -- The Finger Lakes Women's Basketball team fell on Saturday to Fulton-Montgomery Community College by the score of 90-62. The Lakers are now 2-9 on the season and 2-6 in regional games.

Both teams came out fast with their shooting on Saturday. Fulton-Montgomery showed off quality three point shooting, but the Lakers would answer. Monica Brennan took an in--bounds pass from Michelle Braoderick and drained a three to make it 10-8 FM early. The Raiders continued to shoot well, however. They were 3-4 from three point territory in the first four minutes and ended up shooting 8-18 from deep in the first half. An Alex Shepard three cut the Raider lead to 21-13. Shepard finished with 14 points in the half. That would be as close as the margin got in the half as Fulton-Montgomery would go on a run and carry a 52-31 lead into halftime.

The Raiders would stay effecient with their shooting and grow the margin into the thritys. Ryenn Smith scored eight of her 13 points in the second half. As a team, the Lakers hit four three pointers in the half, but it was not enough as the Raiders would go on to win 90-62.

Alex Shepard finished the game with a team-high 21 points. She also added seven rebounds. Ryenn Smith had five assists and four rebounds to go with her 13 points. Caryle Capron added 10 points off the bench for Finger Lakers.

The Lakers will now have a couple of weeks off for winter recess. The Lakers will be back in action in 2015 as they host Schenectady County Community College on January 3 at 1pm.
