Lady Lakers Fall to #2 Nationally Ranked Onondaga

CANANDAIGUA, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lady Lakers (13-14) lost their fourth consecutive game this afternoon by falling to #2 nationally ranked Onondaga Community College (Lady Lazers) at home (their final 2011-12 regular season home game), 83-48. With the win, the Lady Lazers completed a 2-game regular season series sweep of the Lady Lakers.

The Lady Lakers struggled in the shooting department today, citing great defensive play out of the Lady Lazers. On the afternoon, FLCC shot just 24% from the field. A pair of freshman guards, Kelli McCauley (Irondequoit, NY) and Cassandra Strait (Dundee, NY) led the Lady Lakers in the losing effort. McCauley scored a team-high 18 points while Strait poured in a 17-point afternoon.

FLCC Freshman forward Marissa Congdon (Canandaigua, NY) added 6 points and a team-high 12 rebounds in the loss.

Alyssa Gratien led Onondaga with 21 points and 7 assists, both game-high's. Carly Dicocco added 15 points and a game-high 15 rebounds in the winning effort for the Lady Lazers.

The Lady Lakers will conclude their regular season tomorrow at Adirondack Community College. Game time tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
