Strait and McCauley Pace Lady Lakers in Home Win over Broome

CANANDAIGUA, NY. - Leading just 28-26 at halftime, The Finger Lakes Community College Lady Lakers (12-10) came out in attack mode offensively in the second half of tonight's home game against Broome Community College, scoring 39 points on route to a 67-45 victory. Paving the scoring column for the Lady Lakes were a pair of freshman guards, Cassandra Strait (Dundee, NY) and Kelli McCauley (Irondequoit, NY).                                                                       

Strait led all scorers for both teams tonight by pouring in 28 points, 19 of which came in the second half. She also added 7 rebounds and handed out 4 assists in the win.

McCauley surpassed the 20-point marker, finishing the game with 21 points. She also pulled down 9 rebounds; sharing team-high honors with freshman forward Britany Monpere (Palmyra, NY).

Monpere was the third Lady Laker to reach double figures in scoring. She finished the game with 10 points while adding a team-high 4 steals to her 9-rebound night.

Jennifer Celiberti paced Broome with 17 points on a night where the Hornets shot just 25% from the field.

FLCC will remain at home for its next game, where they will take on Jefferson Community College this Saturday (2/4) at 1:00 p.m.
