WATERTOWN — Freshman Jenna Theilen (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) drove in a career-high nine runs during Sunday's doubleheader sweep of Jefferson Community College as the Finger Lakes Community College softball team extended its winning streak to five games.
The Lakers (6-18, 6-12 Region III) won by scores of 15-5 and 11-3 in five innings.
On the day, Theilen was 5-for-7 with nine RBI and five runs scored to power FLCC.
In the opener, Theilen was 2-for-3 with two walks and three RBI, and freshman Caitlin Murney (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) added a two-run triple during a four-run second inning.
FLCC tacked on two runs in both the third and fourth innings, pushed across one run in the sixth, and scored five times in the seventh, led by Theilen's two-run triple.
Freshman Jessica Williams (Belfast, N.Y./Belfast) earned the win, allowing five hits and five runs (four earned) for her fourth win of the year.
In the nightcap, Theilen 3-for-4 with two runs scored and six RBI, sophomore Jenna Pedro (Oakfield, N.Y./Elba) was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and classmate Amanda Albino (Union Springs, N.Y./Union Springs) was 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Theilen and Albino each delivered two-run singles, and Theilen added a two-run triple during a 10-run first inning as FLCC batted around and recorded 10 base hits.
Theilen closed out the FLCC scoring on a sixth-inning RBI single.
Sophomore Anna Dickens (Ovid, N.Y./South Seneca) earned her second win in as many starts, allowing three earned runs on five hits.
The Lakers return to action Tuesday, hosting Herkimer College for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
