Lakers Softball Begins Season 1-1

The Finger Lakes Community College softball team began their season this week during their spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, Va.  They begin the season 1-1 after facing the College of Southern Maryland and Columbia-Greene Community College yesterday.  

In the season opener, the Lakers fell to the College of Southern Maryland by a final score of 9-1.  Carlye Capron started on the mound for the Lakers and recorded four strikouts in three innings pitched.  Madison Ware, Peyton Wyjad and Amanda Albino went 1-for-2.  Ware scored the only run for the Lakers after an error was committed by the Hawks.

Finger Lakes played Columbia-Greene in their second matchup of the day.  The Lakers defeated the Twins 7-3.  Madison Ware pitched a complete game for the Lakers, striking out eight batters and allowed just 4 hits.  Cassidy Bosch finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.  Taylor Laws, Michaela Anderson and Madison Joseph each went 1-for-3.  Joseph also contributed with two RBI's.  Finger Lakes talied nine hits total.  

The Lakers will continue games today when they take on Potomac State College at 9:00 AM followed by Ocean County College at 11:30 AM.
