Shively Named USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week

CANANDAIGUA — Sophomore Luke Shively (Medina, Ohio) won a regional championship in the pole vault for the Finger Lakes Community College men's track and field team during this weekend's NJCAA Region III Track and Field regional championships at Little Falls High School.

On Tuesday, Shively's performance earned him the NJCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.

Shively won the pole vault (14 feet, 3.25 inches), and was second in both the javelin (126 feet, four inches), and the decathlon (5,138 points) as the Laker men placed fourth with 75 points.

Shively's effort in the decathlon represented the second-highest point total for an NJCAA Division III student-athlete this year.

Shively, along with freshmen Miles James and Jake Bailey, will compete in the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Division III National Championships, Thursday through Saturday at Howard Community College in Columbia, Md.
