James Runs 400 in Season-Best Time, Places 2nd at Fisher

PITTSFORD — Freshman Miles James (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) narrowly missed out on winning the 400 meters during Saturday's Cardinal Classic, held at the Polisseni Track and Field Complex on the campus of St. John Fisher College.

James finished in a season-best time of 50.68 seconds, 0.12 behind first-place Eddie Mahana (St. John Fisher) to provide the best finish for the Lakers, who sent 12 student-athletes to the competition.

James also competed in the 200 (23rd-place finish) and the long jump (24th).

In other FLCC action: Freshman Jacob Bailey placed seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, sophomore Patrick Smith-LaBombard placed ninth in the javelin throw, sophomore Luke Shively was 15th and freshman Conor Harrigan placed 17th in the javelin.

The Lakers will compete in the NJCAA Regionals, Friday and Saturday, May 5-6 in Little Falls, N.Y.
