ROCHESTER, NY -- The Finger Lakes Track and Field team opened their 2015 season with a bang by breaking three school records at the Universtiy of Rochester Alumni Invitational.
Chuck Collins won the 10,000 meter run event, defeating nine other runners with a near 30 second margin of victory. His time of 32:49.13 broke his previous personal best and Finger Lakes CC School Record by 1:53. Freshman Luke Shively broke a school record that has been in place since 2009. He set a new school best with a pole valut of 3.78 meters.
Rachel Graves finished in 17th place out of 49 runners in the 800 meters. Her time of 2:26.40 broke the previous Finger Lakes record by just over a second.
With their times and marks, Collins, Shively, and Graves all qualified for the Region III and NJCAA Championships this season. Jordan Rizzieri qualified for regionals in the javelin throw. As a team, the Finger Lakes Men qualified for the Regional Championships in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
The Lakers will next been in action on April 11 as they travel to Nazareth College for the ROC City Classic.
