Lakers Compete at Golden Eagle Run

BROCKPORT, NY -- The Finger Lakes Mens and Womens Track and Field teams competed this past weekend at the Golden Eagle Run hosted by SUNY Brockport. It was the Lakers final chance to qualify for next weeks Region III Championship.

On the Mens side, the Lakers had numerous personal and season bests. Troy Cymerman finished 3rd in the 400 meter dash. His time of 54.59 was the best by a Laker runner this season and a personal best for Cymerman. Quinton Parrow also set a personal best in the 400 meter as well as the 200 meter dash. Gayang Ayol ran the 800 meters in 2:07.80. It was the best finish by a Laker this season. Jordan Rizzieri finished in 3rd place in the 400 meter hurdles race. In the throwing events, Devin Christie set a personal and team season best in the shot put with 10.19 meters and Sean Peebles set a new personal best in the javelin. 

For the Women, Rebecca Manwaring set a new personal best in the 800 meters with a time of 2:36.15. Marnwaring has already qualified for the Region III and NJCAA Championships in previous meets. Cassidie Smith set the new season mark for the Lakers in the javelin. She threw it 25.57 meters. The mark is a new personal best for Smith.

The Lakers will compete in the Region III Championships next weekend. The meet will be hosted by SUNY Delhi. The Women's Track and Field team has qualified in 10 different events and the Mens team will be competing in 11.
