CORTLAND, NY -- The Finger Lakes Community College Track and Field team competed at the Cortland Classic this past weekend. The Lakers once again had another successful meet and had multiple athletes qualify for the Regional Championship in their events.
Charles Collins had another strong meet for the Lakers. He ran the 10000 meters for the first time this season. With a time of 34:42.33, Collins set a new Finger Lakes record by nearly 2 minutes and 45 seconds. His time was also good enough to qualify him for the NJCAA National and Region III Championships. Sophomore Andre Farrell ran the 100 meter dash in 11.24 seconds. The time qualified him for the National Championship and is just 3 hundredths of a second off of the school record. Jordan Rizzieri and Anthony Soto both competed in the decathlon for Finger Lakes. Rizzieri set the new school record with 3754 points. Soto finished just behind him with 3348 points.
The Lakers will return to action next weekend at SUNY Brockport for the Golden Eagle Run. It is the final meet before the Regional Championships.
