CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men’s Soccer team clenched their first win of the season over NJCAA, Region III opponent, Hudson Valley Community College, this past Thursday 1-0.
In the first half of the game, the Vikings looked dominant over the Lakers. The Vikings took 5 shots while there were none from the Lakers. FLCC goal keeper, Brayden Kane kept the Lakers in it while the offense found its steam. The first half finished scoreless while Kane recorded 3 important saves.
Once the second half started, the Lakers found the energy they were looking for. They gained possession of the ball more than they did in the first half. The increase in possession paid off. Raquan Hinds found an open Felipe Gonzalez to knock in an FLCC goal on a corner kick. This was Gonzalez’s first career goal as a Laker. The Laker’s played the tight defense they needed and grabbed the win.
Game leaders for the Lakers were Gonzalez with one goal, Hinds with one assist, and Kane with 8 saves.
The Lakers travel to Erie Community College on Wednesday, September, 6 at 5:00PM.
