The Finger Lakes Men's Soccer team brought home a pair of ties from this weekends roadtrip. They tied North Country Community College on Saturday 0-0, and did the same against Clinton Community College on Sunday, also a 0-0 game. The Lakers did drop both matches in the shootout, however it is not reflected in the teams record. The Lakers now stand at 0-3-3.
Freshman goalkeeper Brian Arcara was the story of the game Saturday against North Country CC. In a game that was dominated by the Saints, Arcara keep the Lakers in the game recording 30 saves in the 110 minutes of play. The 30 saves is a Finger Lakes record. The Lakers were outshot, 30-10 in shots on goal. Corey Nash led the Laker offense with 3 shots on goal.
Sunday saw an even match between Clinton CC and Finger Lakes. The Lakers outshot Clinton 18-14. A lot of the offense was created from the midfield and defense. Midfielders Ben Price, AJ Carselli, Christopher Shea, and Kyle Guisbert along with defensemen Ryan Haines, James Ferro, and Scott Meyers each had a pair of shots on goal. Arcara was solid again stopping 14 shots to earn his second straight shutout.
The Lakers remain on the road this week. They will open regional play on Wednesday taking on the Kats of Erie Community College. Kickoff from Erie's South Campus in Orchard Park, NY is scheduled for 5pm.
