Lakers Roll Generals for Sixth Straight

HERKIMER, NY -- The Finger Lakes Men's Lacrosse team defeated Herkimer County Community College on Monday by the score of 14-11. It is Finger Lakes' sixth straight win. The Lakers now sit at 7-4 on the season and 5-0 in Region III play.

Finger Lakes used a fast start to get up on Herkimer 5-0 in the first five minutes of the game. Herkimer would cut the lead down to 7-5 at halftime, but Finger Lakes would score two goals in the first minute of the third quarter. Their offense would go on to propel them to a 14-11 victory.

Matt Scharr led the Lakers with seven points on two goals and five assists. Matt Miller continued his hot play and found the back of the net six times for Finger Lakes. Roy Young scored four goals and assisted on another. Matt Youngs and Allan Smith also added goals for the Lakers. Jake Sahlre got the win in net with 12 saves.

Finger Lakes will open their home schedule this Wednesday as they host the Tribunes of Monore Community College. The game is set to start at 4pm.
