WEST POINT, NY. – The Lakers (0-2) held a one-goal, 5-4 edge over Brookdale CC heading into the third quarter of Saturday's meeting with the Jersey Blues. Brookdale, after being down one entering the third, would score 4 third quarter goals to take a one-goal, 8-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter. After going up 8-7, the Jersey Blues would build upon their lead in the games' final quarter. In it, they would go on to outscore Finger Lakes 5-3 to take a 13-10 victory.
In Saturday's contest, which was held at a neutral site on the campus of Army Prep in West Point, NY, attackman Robert Pelkey contributed 4 goals in the losing effort for the Lakers. The 4-goal effort from Pelkey was his second consecutive 4-goal game. The sophomore, in the Lakers season opener at Naval Academy Prep, began his second season in a Finger Lakes uniform with a 4-goal game.
Joining Pelkey in the scoring column for the Lakers with a 4-point day was Parker Weeks. The local Canandaigua resident tallied a goal and handed out 3 assists in the weekend meeting with Brookdale.
Following Pelkey in the goal-scoring column for Finger Lakes was Jack Timerson. The second-year Laker, after turning in a 2-goal, 2-assist showing on opening day last weekend, registered a hat trick of goals.
In net, Finger Lakes goaltender John Perrucci, who played all 60 minutes of the game, turned away 23 of Brookdale's 36 shots.
