FLCC Lacrosse Falls in its Season Opener to Naval Academy Prep, 20-6

NEWPORT, RI. – Finger Lakes CC (0-1) fell in its first game of the 2013 men's lacrosse season on Sunday to Naval Academy Prep on the road by a score of 20-6. Navy Prep jumped out to an early 7-0 lead upon the conclusion of the first quarter and after doing so, never looked back on Finger Lakes.

The Lakers, who scored their first goal of the game in the second quarter, were led in the scoring column by Robert Pelkey and his 5-point effort. The sophomore, on the afternoon, accrued 4 goals and handed out one assist in the losing effort.

Following Pelkey on the offensive side of the field for Finger Lakes in terms of scoring was Jack Timerson. The attackman, a standout player for the Lakers in 2012, began his sophomore campaign on a high note as he delivered 2 goals and 2 assists en route to his 4-point day.

Chipping in with one assist apiece for Finger Lakes in the opener were Parker Weeks, Jake Smith, and Albert Thompson.

In goal, Lakers starter John Perrucci turned away 16 shots in 49 minutes worth of action. Also seeing time in net for Finger Lakes were Matthew Ebanez and Nathan Gardner.

Finger Lakes will now turn its attention to its next opponent – Brookdale CC. The Lakers will square off with Brookdale this Saturday (3/2) beginning at 4:00 p.m. The game will be played at a neutral site as it will be held at Army Prep.
