Men's Basketball Leaves MSAC Tournament With Loss To Lazers

AUBURN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team traveled to Cayuga Community College for the 2018 Mid State Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday. The Lakers played the Onondaga Community College Lazers in the Tournament Semi-Final. The Lakers lost 97-67.

The Lakers were down at the end of the first half with a score of 49-33. They couldn't quite find the right adjustments to be made, and stayed down at the end of the game as well. The Lakers lost 97-67.

Although the Lakers fell to the Lazers, they still managed to shoot better in the field. The Lakers shot 51% while the Lazers shot 47.7%. They were not as successful in three pointers and only shot 28.6% while the Lazers shot 46.7%.

The 2018 All-MSAC team was announced while at the tournament. Three of the Lakers made the team; Shane Fanning, Trayvon Holt, and Keon Dunbar.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Fanning, with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists, and Nyquan McCombs with 12 points and four assists.

The Lakers will now play in the Region III quarterfinal game at Onondaga Community College where they will face the Lazers again. They will travel to OCC on Tuesday, February 27th. The start time is still TBA.
