Men Start A Win Streak

WATERTOWN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men's Basketball team won their second game and conference game in a row on Sunday. The Lakers beat the Jefferson Community College Cannoneers 84-74 in overtime.

It was a tight game for the Lakers on Sunday. They started out behind in the first half. They were down 33-28. Not too far of a reach for the Lakers to gain the lead again. The Lakers then outscored the Cannoneers in the second half, but just missed gaining a lead and sent them into overtime. The Lakers were determined to keep their scoring going and ended overtime outscoring their opponents 19-9 to get to the 84-74 score.

Although the Lakers won the game, the Cannoneers managed to have better shooting percentages. The Lakers shot 42.3% in field while the Cannoneers shot 49.3%. Both team were tied in three point percentage with a 20%.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Trayvon Holt with 25 points, and 16 rebounds, and Shane Fanning, NyQuan McCombs, and Elijah Idlett all scored 17 points.

The Lakers will play next at home, on January 31st. They will play the SUNY Broome Hornets at 7:30pm.
