Men's Basketball Celebrates Sophomore Night

Canandaigua, NY -- The men's basketball team celebrated their sophomore night prior to their final home contest of the regular season.  Six sophomores were honored for their dedication to the team including Jordan Donahue, Jay Scarbrough, Jonathan Range, Cameron Myles, Shabazz Mosley, and Nick DeVries.

Following the sophomore celebration, the Lakers defeated the Spartans from Cayuga Community College by a score of 67-63.  With the win, the Lakers improve to 9-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference and 16-7 overall on the season.  

Wednesday's contest was very closely contested throughout the entire game.  Neither team jumped ahead by more than eight points at any point.  By the end of the first half, the Lakers would trail the Spartans 33-30.  The Lakers finally took the lead for the first time with nine minutes remaining in the second half.  They would hold a slim lead for the remainder of the half to claim victory over the Spartans.

Sophomore Shabazz Mosley led the Lakers with 21 points and six rebounds.  Jonathan Range finished with 18 points and seven rebounds.  Shane Fanning had 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists. 

The Lakers will play their final regular season game on Saturday, February 18.  They will travel to Onondaga Community College to face the Lazers in a Mid-State Athletic Conference contest.  Tipoff is scheduled for 3pm.
