The Lakers go 1-1 on Monday in Myrtle Beach

The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team went 1-and-1 on Monday, March 20 against the College of Southern Maryland Hawks and the Elgin Community College Spartans in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Lakers defeated the Hawks 12-8, and would suffer a loss to the Spartans 15-6.

The CSM Hawks batted in five runs during the first inning, but the Lakers would hold them scoreless until the seventh inning. Mike Magnanti, Cody Cooper, and Kobie Punchard finished with double plays for the Lakers. The leading player with runs batted in was Nick Ferrino with three. Following him were Mike Magnanti and Cody Cooper with two RBI's apiece. Nick Slobodiak allowed four earned runs out of his four innings pitched.

The Lakers were up by three runs heading into the third inning. However in that same inning they would give up nine runs to the Spartans. Nick Slobodiak went 2-for-2 with one run scored. Mike Magnanti led with two RBI's and a double play; Nick Ferrino turned a double play as well. Alex Mott allowed six earned runs, eight hits, and eight total runs in his two innings pitched. Jordan Bartolis pitched three innings for the Lakers allowing three earned runs and four hits.

The Lakers, currently 2-3 this season, will continue their spring break battles in Myrtle Beach, SC on Tuesday, March 21 where they are scheduled to play Garrett College and Harper College.
